Skills Training Program Loan Scheme
Background
One of the educational challenges today is about students who couldn't continue their studies formally. These is due to unsuccessful undertakings in public examinations plus various other factors. In view of these, the Sarawak Foundation initiates the Skills Development Program in year 2000 to cater for this particular group.
Objectives :

To provide an opportunity to students who failed their public examinations to develop and acquire skills through various courses in order that they will become more "marketable".

To help ease social issues arising from youths by enlisting them in this program which doubles up as prevention rather than cure.

To build self-confidence in this target group in order that they can fend for their own and compete in various employment opportunities and thus providing for a productive living.

To encourage the target group to contribute positively towards the development of our country.
Qualification
To qualify for this scheme, students shall have the following criteria:

Possessed the basic academic requirements such ability to read, write and count;

Must be 16 years old and above but below the age of 45 with a keen interest to follow skills development program on a full time basis;

Students didn't succeed in PMR or SPM examinations;

Students who didn't succeed in furthering their studies or failed to get a place in the various local institutions to study formally;

Students who failed or is not interested in formal education but have an interested in technical and skills development courses;
-
Working adults in the public & private sector who are interested in furthering their skills development.
Amount & scope of assistance

Subsistence allowance : RM250.00 per month.

Return air tickets (for going and after completion of course)
Applications
Students must duly complete the application form which can be obtained from our office in Wisma Satok, Kuching.
All applications must be attached with the following supporting documents:

Birth certificate
-
Leaving School certificate
-
Public examination certificates
-
Malaysian Identity Card (IC)
-
Latest passport size photo
-
Offer letter (if any)
-
Parents/Caretaker's pay slip (if any). Please attached a confirmation letter where the parents/caretaker doesn't have any income.
*All the documents must be certified true copy.
Process
The Sarawak Foundation will process the application forms based on the types of course chosen by the applicant. Successful applicants will be notified and placed in the appointed institution.
Repayment

Students are required to repay back the total amount loan within 5 years (60 months) 6 months after the date of completion of their course.

The monthly instalment will be fixed subject to a minimum of RM50.00 per month.
